On 2 March 2025, undergraduate students of the 2023 cohorts in Visual Communication Design and Product Design from the International Institute of Creative Design (IICD) embarked on an exchange programme to Kongju National University in South Korea. This exchange aims to facilitate students' academic development and deepen cooperation between Chinese and Korean institutions in the field of design education.
Kongju National University, situated in Chungcheongnam-do Province, is the region's sole national university and ranks among the top ten of South Korea's 44 national and public universities. It is a key institution at the national level and a renowned university in central Korea. This collaboration with IICD marks an important milestone in fostering educational partnerships.
During their visit, students will experience Korean university education methods and actively participate in various design workshops, exhibitions, and cultural exchange activities organised by Kongju National University. Through these activities, students will gain an in-depth understanding of Korea's design history, cultural context, and contemporary design trends, especially innovations in brand design, user experience, and sustainable design.
This exchange represents the first group of undergraduate students from IICD to visit South Korea since the establishment of the Institute. It provides students with invaluable educational opportunities and establishes a solid foundation for further collaboration with Korean universities. In the future, the Institute will continue to promote international education, creating more globalised learning platforms to enhance students’ international experiences and contribute to their academic growth.
