International Institute of Creative Design (IICD), Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) is a Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institution (non-independent legal entity, approved by the Ministry of Education, approval number: MOE31KRA02DNR20222288N). It evolved from the Sino-Korean Multimedia Design College, established in 2003 through collaboration between SUES and Dongseo University, South Korea. It was the first institute in China to receive approval for a Chinese-foreign cooperative digital media arts program and received professional certification from UK NARIC in 2019. In April 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of this cooperative institution between SUES, Korea Kongju National University, and Dongseo University.

This institution is SUES's first approved Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institution and China's first China-Korea cooperative institution in design. The institute offers both undergraduate and master's degree programs, including three undergraduate majors (Visual Communication Design, Product Design, and Digital Media Arts) and one master's program in Art Design. It adopts a 4+0 model for undergraduate studies and a 3+0 model for master's studies. Students can choose to study at either Korean university during their enrollment. Upon completing academic requirements, students can receive degrees from both SUES and either Korean university. The planned total enrollment is 620 students, with annual admissions of 110 undergraduate and 60 graduate students.

Korea National University of Kongju ranks among Korea's top ten national universities and was one of the first to establish animation and game design departments. Dongseo University is known for its educational reform and international outlook, with strengths in art design, information technology, and digital content.

The institute adheres to its motto Truth in Art, Harmony in Beauty. It integrates quality educational resources from all three universities, offering international education without leaving China. The institute aims to:

The institute employs 36 faculty members from both countries, including professors, associate professors, and industry mentors. Two-thirds of full-time faculty have overseas study or visiting scholar experience. The faculty includes Shanghai Magnolia Award winners, Shanghai Pujiang Scholars, and Ministry of Education Teaching Committee members.

In the past five years, faculty members have:

• Published 142 academic papers (20+ core papers)

• Published 3 digital media textbooks and 4 monographs

• Obtained 50 patents and software copyrights

• Undertaken 40 research projects totaling 9.1 million RMB

• Led 11 teaching construction projects

• Managed 2 Shanghai key course construction projects

The institute has hosted various international academic conferences and exhibitions, including MITA2018 and multiple Youth Creative Hub Shanghai University Student Cultural Creative Exhibitions.

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program includes three Chinese-foreign cooperative research directions. The institute emphasizes the integration of art, humanities, and technology. It has achieved significant rankings improvements in national design discipline evaluations, moving up to 54th place in 2021.
