In order to further promote the integration of industry and education in the curriculum and broaden students' professional horizons, the International Institute of Creative Design has specially invited our alumnus, Professor Shi Yihang, an installation art designer from Leos Lighting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., to enter the Fundamentals of Program Design classroom on the afternoon of April 17, 2024, and bring a wonderful lecture on the theme of Design Trends and Innovations in Public Art to first-year students majoring in Digital Media Art (Sino Korean Cooperation).
In the lecture, Teacher Shi introduced the concept and characteristics of public art to students through carefully selected project cases, demonstrated the diversity of forms in public art, and delved into the innovative exploration of public art in new materials, new technologies, and interdisciplinary fields. Teacher Shi specifically introduced the development trend of public art: combining art with the latest technology to create a participatory and interactive public experience space, thereby achieving collaborative creation between artists and audiences.
Based on his practical project experience, Teacher Shi elaborated on the thinking path, design process, and methods of designers in the project design process, demonstrating how to use software and hardware technology to create creative public art installations. He specifically pointed out that the design process is often non-linear and a journey full of iteration and cycles of exploration. Teacher Shi encourages students to have the courage to expand their knowledge boundaries during their undergraduate studies, fully utilize the international resources of the college to broaden their horizons, and continuously learn, think, and accumulate experience in practice.
Teacher Shi's wonderful sharing allowed students to truly feel the infinite potential and application prospects of the combination of technology and art, and enriched their understanding of the profession, stimulating their thinking on future learning paths and career planning.
